Al Jazeera: Test-tube burgers and the future of meat

Our chief scientist Prof Mark Post was delighted to give Al Jazeera a look into recent developments in producing the meat of the future.

He highlighted the environmental benefits that would come from switching to cultured meat, saying: "Methane is actually a very powerful greenhouse gas. It is 20 times more powerful than CO2 and livestock is accountable for 40 per cent of all methane emissions. This process (cultured meat) would reduce the number of animals from 1.5 billion to 30,000."
